HENRYVILLE, Ind.—Verizon Wireless is opening a free Wireless Emergency Communications Center today in Henryville in the wake of tornado damage for all emergency personnel and local residents to make free phone calls, re-charge cell phones (regardless of carrier) and access the Internet using the company’s 4G LTE Mobile Broadband service.
The heated mobile trailer equipped with 4G devices is located on the corner of Ferguson and Cherry streets. Verizon’s communications center will be available throughout the week.
Verizon Wireless has also boosted capacity on its cell sites in and around Henryville due to devastating damage in parts of Southern Indiana.
The company’s 4G LTE network is being added in Henryville and Otisco so that individuals can take advantage of the significantly faster speeds to check email, file insurance claims, pay bills and handle any other necessary transactions.
Additionally, the Verizon Wireless Communications Store in nearby Clarksville, Ind., and six of the company’s premium agent retailers in Indiana and Kentucky continue to offer emergency communication resources so Hoosiers rebuilding their homes and community can contact employers, family and friends at no cost. Residents can also use a battery charging station that allows users of any carrier to charge their smartphones and other wireless devices.

The 8.2″ Droid Xyboard is a solid device. It’s Motorola’s follow-up to the original Xoom tablet, and it’s quite impressive. Here is a video review of the device, with some specs, pros & cons listed below as well.

Trying something new! I have been collaborating with several folks on the meetup agenda for each month, using Google Docs. The “share” feature of the document is very handy, as participants are able to add & edit the document, without a single file being passed in email or some other method. If you haven’t tried it for collaborating on documents, spreadsheets and other files, you need to!
So, taking it a step further, I will now use those same documents as the meetup notes, rather than copy and paste that into a new post! After the meetup has occurred, I will change the sharing options to “Public: View Only”, and that Agenda document will now become the Meetup Notes!

When the Droid RAZR was first announced, I looked at the photos of it and to be honest, I was not “wowed”. But once I had a chance to handle the device for this review, I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the form factor of this thin, light and fast device!
It is currently running Gingerbread (Android 2.3.5), but it’s already confirmed to receive Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) in the near future. I personally have not seen a faster (stock) device that is running Gingerbread. Between the speed of the device itself and the speed of Verizon’s LTE network, the RAZR is definitely a powerhouse. Here is a dedicated link for the RAZR on Verizon’s site.
