ZDNet’s Matt Miller just can’t take Windows Mobile anymore

An interesting read over at Matt Miller’s ZDNet blog.  He tried out the T-Mobile HTC HD2 (running Windows Mobile 6.5) and was disappointed on several counts.  He turned the phone in, and will take another look at a Windows Phone 7 device when they arrive later this year.

The HD2 is a great piece of hardware, but with it running WM 6.5, it falls short.   Granted, Matt could have tweaked and customized the HD2 and had a better experience, but you have to appreciate reviewing a device as a typical consumer might experience it.  The average Joe is not going to install custom ROM’s and do all sorts of tweaks.  It just needs to work, right out of the box. 

Here’s hoping Microsoft gets it right with Windows Phone 7.  They certainly are losing ground, and the 4th quarter is a LONG way off.  In technology terms, that is eons away…
