Browse & purchase Audible books from your iPhone or Android phone
This isn’t really breaking news (Audible announced it back in September) but it’s still worth mentioning. Previously, the (very nice) Audible app on iPhone as well as Android devices allowed you to view your personal library & download your books from there, but you still had to visit Audible.com separately to shop for and purchase new books.
Now, you can do that right from the app, which is very handy!
I just purchased Freedom by Daniel Suarez (the follow-up to Daemon, which was a very cool book) via my HTC EVO. It was a piece of cake! Certainly a lot different than days of old when I had an Audible account with one of my Pocket PC’s – purchase the book on the PC, download it to the PC, sync the Pocket PC and transfer it over to the device!
If you haven’t tried Audible on your iPhone or Android, I highly recommend giving it a try! There is a really good deal where you can get 3 months for less than $8/mo (then it goes to $15/mo, which is still reasonable).
Heck, you can always cancel after the 3rd month, if you don’t like it. Personally, it’s a great way for me to “read” books, because I can’t sit still that long to read a novel, but I can certainly listen to one while I am a busy beaver, doing all sorts of things! And now that the store is available right in the app, it’s even easier for me to make my next purchase! Most excellent!
