Notes from 02-22-2011 MyMobileVille Meetup

Here are the notes from our meetup on Feb 22nd:

  • From the iCreditCard demo given by BuzzApp Software:
  • Verizon iPhone demo – summary: unless you’ve been under a rock for the past 8 months, you’ve already seen this phone!  The exception: the data speeds are really good on this one!   The downside: no simultaneous voice/data like the AT&T flavor.  Oddly enough, not a lot of people fret over that as much as I would have thought…
  • iPhone 5 simultaneous launch? http://bit.ly/ee13Pt
  • Mobile is now a game of ecosystems, not devices. http://bit.ly/goCe55
  • The one big reason why iPad rivals can’t compete on price. http://tek.io/h8xqhZ
  • PlayOn brings Netflix, Hulu and more to Android. Kind of… http://bit.ly/f2zVCm
  • Wirelessly stream Android media to an HDTV using doubleTwist AirSync. http://bit.ly/eB2aGF
  • Join.me Viewer for Android is here! http://bit.ly/eu0e4s
  • Pay Parking Meter with mobile phone! The folks in South Miami are in for a treat – Verrus PayByPhone and the City of South Miami have just announced the official launch of PayByPhone parking. Now instead of having to fumble around with change to deal with parking machines – users can simply use their cellphones to ensure they never get a ticket for a parking violation ever again! All users have to do is head over to paybyphone.com and sign up there or call up 1-888-950-PARK (7275) when parking. If your parking time is about to expire, the service can even send you a text a few minutes before it expires so you’ll know if you need to top up your parking fee or you should get ready to leave. Such convenient use of technology. Let’s hope this system gets rolled out to the rest of the nation as well.
  • Google Reader update included some new widgets.
  • Google One Pass – http://bit.ly/h8SoNu
  • From the SCARY Dept: Captured images of your physical keys can be used to make copies. http://t.co/aTXIYMv
  • Google Voice & using Jott – If you are a Jott customer and you use only Google Voice for outgoing calls on your mobile, you will find that Jott does not recognize you!  I found that out the hard way…
