Google + out of field trial – numerous impressive features added!

Google + is now officially out of field trial, and in beta, and they have made some significant changes.  Some of them have huge potential!  Just to name a few:

  • Hangouts now available on phone!
  • Hangouts On Air – we’re going to test this out, and quite possibly, this will replace Ustream for our meetups!  There are also some “extras” they are working on for Hangouts (Screen sharing, Sketchpad, Google Docs, Named Hangouts) which are currently available in preview.
  • Did you get confused between the term Hangouts and Huddles?  No more!  A Huddle is now called Messenger, and there are lots of robust features they’ve added to it as well.
  • Search!  Finally, Google, the search engine company, has added search to G+!
  • No more invites needed!  G+ is now open to anyone!
  • They’ve also added SMS support, improved mentions support, the ability to customize notifications, and the ability to move the app to your SD card (Android devices).
Check out the full details over at the official Google Blog!
