At the last MyMobileVille meetup, I was the proud winner of the PYKL3 Radar app drawing. Being a South Florida resident, I had visions of all the ways this app would be useful to me, both professionally and personally. Yes, I’m the geek that gets excited when there is a storm brewing in the tropics. I’m the one trying to predict whether its heading our way. I’m the one checking Weather Underground 10 minutes before the National Weather Service (NWS) official reports. I’m the one signed up to get text and email alerts. And, I’m the one jumping up and down like a giddy schoolgirl asking if its time to enact our DR and BCP plans. Besides, its a little known fact that us SFL residents are all amateur meteorologists and I’m no exception to the rule… but I digress.
Co-located in Canada and Louisville, KY, the developing team ParkVu brings you the Music WithMe Android application which is a Hi-Fidelity sync tool bringing your iTunes library to your Android phone. One of the gems about this service is that the sync process is done wirelessly so there is no need to hook your smartphone to your computer first. Music WithMe brings to your fingertips the music your Facebook and Twitter friends share through several sources like: Music WithMe, Soundtracking, Last.fm, Rdio, and Pandora. With a newly redesigned user interface, it is easy to quickly immerse yourself in new and popular music from various artists.

CamScanner is a utility app which turns your Android phone into a scanner for documents, images and whatever else you can think of. It converts the scans into PDFs that you can upload to things like Dropbox or Evernote, as well as email and more. Check out more in the video review!
NOTE: Upon visiting the developer’s site, I learned that CamScanner is actually available for iPhone too (as well as Windows Mobile 6.x devices). Check out their site for more info!

National Study Finds 1 in 5 Haven’t Discussed Safety Guidelines for Kids’ Wireless Usage
LOUISVILLE, Ky—While more than 95 percent of parents choose to get their child a wireless device for safety, emergencies and to ensure they can reach them at any time, one in five haven’t set up rules for kids’ wireless usage, according to a recent survey by Verizon Wireless. The study also found discussing inappropriate texts and the importance of not texting and driving ranked low on the list of discussion topics.
“While wireless devices provide peace of mind for parents, it’s important to teach children responsibility and set guidelines when they get their first wireless device,” said John Granby, president–Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. “Establishing rules and discussing important topics with children regarding wireless usage early on will help create responsible users.”
The study also found that the number one rule parents set for kids is that they must answer the phone when mom or dad calls. In addition, parents often require kids to maintain good grades in order to continue to use their wireless device.
