Verizon offers new resource for reviewing Android apps before you install them

This is a pretty cool service which compliments the user ratings in Google Play:

Verizon Wireless has created a new resource that rates Android apps based on four aspects: security, data consumption, battery usage and user experience. It’s a great resource for checking out apps before users install them – it offers more information than the user ratings in Google Play.

Visit http://support.verizonwireless.com/information/app_ranking and you’ll see rankings for the most popular apps currently offered in Google Play over the last 30 days. The list gives an overall rating for the app; if you want to find how it rates for the specific four features above, just click on it, and a smaller window will open up showing the rankings for each aspect. By the way, if Verizon finds an app to be “high risk,” the company works with developers to correct the problem. Once the issue is corrected, the app is removed from the high risk list.
